CSA

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  The CSA concept involves developing a full season budget to fund production of a wide array of produce for a specific number of weeks.  Members or shareholders of the CSA pay for the growing season in advance to cover farming expenses such as seeds, labor and supplies.  It should be noted that shareholders are not paying for ‘X’ pounds of produce each week, but rather supporting the budget of the whole farm while receiving bi-weekly shares of in season produce.  This shared risk approach allows Farmer Bert to focus on the quality of the soils, crops, and animals, as well as provide a quality service to customers.
